A recent visit to one of our Corporate customers showed a very concerning situation with their data network. This business has been using MPLS (CoS enabled) for the last 18mths to prioritise their business traffic and were very pleased with quality of services from their Provider. They are about to utilise NetEvidence’s In-Class Performance Monitoring for some new delay sensitive applications and a capacity review for next year budgets. When reviewing the network we found that the CoS setup was not what was expected. Data was being set into the MPLS classes but coming out the other side of the network in another. The prioritisation was not being honoured across the network. So what I hear you say? The network is up, it's stable. Business critical applications like video, SAP & voice must have both quality at the physical link level – but also logically….or they slow down & time out = wasted investment… It made us wonder how many other businesses using this technology are only getting part of what they pay for?
