AI is designed to let business people better understand why network performance can vary. With AI, you can see the precise behaviour of applications, giving you another level of understanding. AI uses the Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR) technology present on most Cisco routers and switches to see clearly what data is travelling through your business network - and what applications are using the bandwidth. Information is collected directly from the router, with no additional hardware required - minimising disruption and network overhead, and making AI fast and cheap to deploy, even over large networks.

In keeping with the Highlight Presentation System's 'Mosaic' approach, AI data for a link is displayed below the Traffic and Health information, making it easy to spot correlations between application usage, and traffic or health issues.
